From the gel phantom to the beef burger

Days in Oxford can be quite interesting indeed. For example, today Kate showed me how she prepares gel phantoms for ultrasound experiments (the technique is somewhere between engineering, chemistry, physics and cooking), and then the Oriel MCR hosted a BBQ in the college annexe.

It really helped having such a glamourous assistant, a bit like “Ready Steady Cook”. Unfortunately the evil fridge scuppered all our hard work. I won’t be coming to work on a Saturday again for a very long time.

So is Science. Those guys near Geneva, they were trying to simulate the Big Bang and their multi-million project blew off. We got the gel phantom frozen (my guess is that Jean turned down the heat for his frostie).
