First interpolating approximation problem

The earliest reference to this problem [, approximating the projection of a set of data points onto a manifold,] is in the book of Genesis: “Let there be a firmament between the water to divide waters from waters”, that is the manifold. “Let there be lights in the firmament”, these are the points. Then, “God set them in heaven’s firmament”, i.e., a projection procedure has been used.
End of her political career

The Victorian Period revolves around the political career of Queen Victoria. She was crowned in 1837 and died in 1901 (which put a definite end to her political career).
So basically, death is nature’s way to vote an incumbent monarch out.

But the dons of Magdalen College at the time weren’t about to let a little thing like that interfere with the fine-breeding of their deer living happily in their Deer Park.
So what did they do? Got in contact with their friends in high places and (in 1939 apparently) had them reclassified as vegetables.
